My Story

I am a body recomposition coach from Vancouver, BC. I started dabbling into the world of fitness during my teenage years. Throughout most of my early life and into my 20’s, I considered myself to have a very skinny body type and struggled to gain mass regardless of how much I tried to eat. I had absolutely no knowledge of food or nutrition and I struggled to stay focused on a consistent workout program. It wasn’t until my mid 20’s that I finally found the drive to visit the gym consistently and experimented with many fad diets that were trending. It was during this process I noticed that I was finally able to gain body mass. However, as I started to bulk, I noticed that I also started to gain belly fat, which then triggered me to focus on losing weight, but resulted in still looking skinny in all the wrong areas. As I constantly struggled with going back and forth, I began to dig deeper and research online on why this was happening. After endless hours of scouring the internet, I discovered the truth to my problem; I was not targeting a diet and fitness program specific to my body type, which is skinny fat.

What is Skinny Fat?

What is skinny fat? Basically, it is a term that is used to describe someone who would typically have a normal weight and body mass index that is standard to that person’s height and age, however, they have significantly more fat to muscle ratio recommended for optimal health. According to the numbers on the scale, it may seem that a skinny fat person would be at their ideal weight and may physically appear in shape with their clothes on, but when the clothes come off, be evident that they are visibly holding fat in their midsection. Following conventional weight loss advice such as calorie restrictions or performing excessive amounts of cardio is simply feeding you lies to your solution. The secret to targeting the skinny fat physique is to focus on body recomposition.

Why SKINNY FAT 2 FIT?

I started SKINNY FAT 2 FIT as a platform to document the lifestyle changes and steps I am taking  to reverse my problem with having the skinny fat physique. I am going to share my experience with testing different nutrition strategies and fitness routines that are specific to the skinny fat body type. My main goal is to publicly post my fitness journey to hold me accountable for ensuring I stay on track. My plan is to find an approach that is simple, balanced, and manageable for the everyday person without ever really feeling restricted. You can of course choose to educate yourself on the skinny fat physique and learn what works and what doesn’t in an attempt to tackle the body recomposition process on your own, or you can follow along on my fitness journey and adopt the personally curated tips I will provide. I welcome any feedback or comments during my quest to lose excess fat and build lean muscle mass and encourage you to share my tips with anyone who may find this information useful.
